VENUS ISD BOND 2025

Venus ISD has called a bond election for $76m to be on the May 3, 2025 ballot to design and construct Phase 1 of a new high school.

A recommendation was made to the VISD Board of Trustees by the Venus Bond Committee after months of study and research. After the recommendation, the Board of Trustees voted to call for a bond election.

Phase 1 of a new high school on land already owned by Venus ISD

The bond proposal will include the design and construction of Phase 1 of a new high school. Phase 1 will include

Phase 1 will include:

  • Approximately 95,000 square feet to accommodate 550 students

  • 24 classrooms (including science labs & CTE spaces)

  • Cafeteria

  • Library/Media center

  • Gymnasium with supporting weight room and locker rooms

  • Practice fields

  • Multiple drives

  • Parking / band practice lot

VENUS ISD IS GROWING

The 2025 bond proposal will address overcrowding and plan for future growth of VISD.

OVERCROWDING

  • 3 out of 4 VISD campuses are at or above capacity

  • Venus HS is the most crowded, operating at 132% capacity or 170 students over capacity.

  • About 200 more students are projected to enroll in VISD by 2029.

  • 500 vacant lots within VISD are current available to build on with 3,430 planned for future development.

By adding a new high school, the campuses could change like this:

  • New Venus High School could serve grades 10-12.

  • Current Venus High School could become a junior high school for grades 7-9.

  • Current Venus Middle School could become an intermediate school for grades 5-6.

  • Current Venus Elementary School could remain an elementary but serve three grades: 2-4.

  • Current Venus Primary School could remain EE-1.
